JYC Day 19- The Man in the Red Suit

Oh yeah the infamous man in red. Is Santa, St. Nick, or Kris Kringle a part of your Christmas tradition? If not has it ever been? How was he introduced into your life? What are your experiences ? When did you stop believing or do you still believe? DO you have kids that believe or disbelieve? How did you keep them believing so they wouldn't ruin it for the other girls and boys? Or did you?
Have a special story to tell about one of these characters?

I for one don't remember when it was I stopped believing in Santa. I do remember believing. I remember my gifts being wrapped in special paper that was just from Santa. I remember waking early and waiting for my parents to make sure there was no reindeer poo left lying around. I big white sheet pinned to the door so we could sneak a peek, and Santa leaving unwrapped gifts for us to see at first site. Yes these were some pretty memorable times. So hence we carried out this tradition with our own children for as long as they believed. Well its been a few years now since our kids discovered that Santa Claus was indeed their parents and I remember how they discovered it was us. Who knew that the children were that attentive, lesson learned that's for sure. For our oldest Chloe she remembers receiving something that we had purchase while she was present. For our son it was when he spied something in his stocking that he had seen sitting in a bag on the counter. Man, we obviously got careless with putting things away , but all is well. When our oldest came to us and asked us we decided that we'd be honest and we asked her to keep it a secret from her brother. Then when our youngest discovered the truth we sat down and told him the truth. The kids were disappointed in us and were upset cause we had conned them. It was then when we told them where Santa originated from and told them all about Old St.Nick. They absolutely were amazed at the fact that a man would go out of his way to help others who were in need. Then we began to talk to them about Jesus and how St. Nick had Jesus in his heart and why it's important that we all live like Jesus. So as a family we began to serve and help others by serving on the Giving Tree Committee at our church. Much joy and tears were shed, but also many important life lessons were learned for all. Our children have learned to give with a loving heart and to be satisfied with the job they have done. They know it doesn't matter if anyone knows because God knows and that is what matters most. So through all of this although Santa may be not seem real, he is. He stands for all those who serve the Lord with a giving heart. They learned more about Jesus through the teachings of Santa. I hope they will continue on this tradition with their children and if not that will be okay too. As long as they know the truth and act according to that truth then we'll be alright with that.

So do you have a special story to share. If so please share it with me. I love to read others stories and their interpretations.

May you continue to be blessed this Christmas,

Mandy
