Home Improvements: Winterizing

Here's to another Home Improvement Post.

As we're learning to adjust to life here in the sticks we've been slowly making some improvements on the house . Some of which have been quick and simple and others that will take time and be ongoing for some time.

One of the most important things we felt was needed , especially for the winter months was a wood stove. So we figured out the best place in the house, we measured, shopped around for the best pricing, and figured out all we needed to do. Once we made our purchase on the wood stove we quickly had to get to work on laying tile down for the placement.

That's where my part came in, finding and shopping for just the right tile. We had made so many trips to Home Depot in the past months that , I really didn't want to go again, but knew it was a must in order to get anything accomplished. So off we went. Picked out all the layers that was needed, subflooring, tile, grout, you name it , it was purchased.

Finally back at home my hubby , tore up the carpet, layed the flooring, and go to work on laying out the tile. This took about two weekends for us to finish due to my hubbies busy work schedule but it was finished just in time for us to receive our woodstove. Yay. One project checked off our list.

Next purchase we needed to make was a generator. That was a whole other adventure, but we got through it and just like that done. Another thing checked off our list.

We now are now doing some thing in the yard but that will be some time before it will be complete, but at least it's started. We also got a friend of ours to come out and help us with some plumbing issues in our bathrooms. So now all we have to do is work on retiling our guest bathroom, but that task will have to wait for now. I'm just glad the problem was easily fixable and we have no more leaking faucet.

That is all for now, more on home improvement projects later.

Blessings to you all
