JYC-Day 8 - Christmas Tree

Today's entry is all about Christmas Tree's. Yay!!! What does the Christmas tree mark for you? Are there any traditions you have for getting your and then putting it up? Do you cut down your own tree, do you buy one all ready cut or do you just simply have a fake tree? Are there any special memories that come to mind? Take some time today and think about what memories the Christmas Tree brings up for you.

For me the Christmas tree reminds me that the best time of the year has appeared once again. I can't wait for the tree to be found, chopped, brought home and up. I have many wonderful memories of cutting down and finding that special tree with my family. We'd go out find our favorite tree, Dad would cut it down , then we'd go out and have a wonderful family dinner, head home and put it up.
So we have been doing this with our children since they were little with a bit of a twist.

As a family we go and pick up our tree either on the day after Thanksgiving on that Saturday. Typically we do it on the day after Thanksgiving then we follow it up with a trip to the Old Cannery to watch the Bridge Lighting then we go to dinner. It is so fun passing this tradition on to our kids. Some years when we haven't been home for Christmas we have gone into the mountains chopped down a tree and brought it back to where we were staying. These precious traditions are memories we are making with them hoping that they'll carry this tradition on themselves with their families and make traditions of their own. There are many more fun stories I could share but I'll save those for another time.

This year we visited a different tree farm one we haven't gone to since we first moved to our home. Cox Family Tree . I had forgotten all about this tree farm. This year we decided to go somewhere different because they were supporting one of our good friends who is having some financial difficulites this year. They let her come and sing in exchange for a Christmas tree. Our family thought that was a nicest thing they could do. So we decided we were going there to get our tree this year. They have many varieties to choose from but we opted for our usual A Douglas Fir. We staked our claim and it was a 12 foot tree. Sadly we had to cut about 4 inches We got served Candy Canes, Hot Cocoa and Coffee. They even bundled it and loaded a top our Explorer no extra charge, now how's that for service.

Please share with me some of your Christmas Tree Stories.

Blessings,
Mandy
